A little about Beltane!

BeltaneLovers

History of Beltane Beltane is also known as Walburge, Bealtaine, Bhealtainn and May Day. It is usually celebrated on May eve or the 1st of May. The actual translation of the word is debatable. Scholars agree that taine or teine means “fire” because the word is used to express fire today in both the Scottish and Irish Gaelic languages. The first syllable, Beal or Bel is not clearly defined. One theory is that the festival is named after the Celtic god Bel (also known as Beli, or Belinus). Therefore, Beltane would mean “Bel’s fire.” Beal, the Gaelic word for “shining one” or “brilliant,” gives Beltane the meaning of “brilliant fire.” On the eve of Beltane all fires were extinguished and relit with embers from the Beltane fire. The Celts built two fires created from the nine sacred woods (Rowan, Apple, Dogwood, Poplar, Juniper, Cedar, Pine, Holly and Oak). The herds were ritually driven between them to purify and protect them. The fires celebrated the return of life and fruitfulness to the earth and would protect, heal and purify anything or one that passed by or jumped over. Beltane is the Sacred Marriage and union of the God and Goddess. Beltane is also celebration of fertility, fruitfulness and the coming of summer. It is a time when the light half of the year is waxing and everything is growing and coming into full greenery and bloom. It is the last of the spring fertility festivals, and is a time when all prepare for the warm months ahead. Beltane celebrates the height of Spring and the flowering of life. The Goddess manifests as the May Queen and Flora. The God emerges as the May King and Jack in the Green. The danced Maypole represents Their unity, with the pole itself being the God and the ribbons that encompass it, the Goddess. Colors are the Rainbow spectrum. Beltane is a festival of flowers, fertility, sensuality, and delight. An old Swedish custom stated that the balefire had to be lit by two people–a male and a female, striking two flints together. This is symbolic of the sexual union of the God and Goddess. In Norway the balefires are called Balder’s Fires in honor of their Sun God. Old brooms were often thrown upon these fires and new ones, made during the winter, were brought out and dedicated to their intended purpose. Germanic and Dianic covens celebrate Bealtaine as a Night of the Dead, where ancestors are asked to join them at the warmth of the fire in much the same way the Celts do at Samhain. Prepare a May basket by filling it with flowers and goodwill and then give it to someone in need of healing and caring, such as a shut-in or elderly friend. Form a wreath of freshly picked flowers, wear it in your hair, and feel yourself radiating joy and beauty. Dress in bright colors. Dance the Maypole and feel yourself balancing the Divine Female and Male within. On May Eve, bless your garden in the old way by making love with your lover in it. Make a wish as you jump a bonfire or candle flame for good luck. Welcome in the May at dawn with singing and dancing.

Great review of my work.

The Magic Apothecary

Posted by

One of the things I love about myself is that I AM a walking commercial for some amazing people and their wonderful products and/or services.  Perhaps it is one of those “pay it forward” things, given that some people are wondrous walking commercials for Robert Alvarez, the Psychic Witch, but I digress.

The other day, I could not recall the last time I had written about someone who I hold in high esteem, someone whose products and/or services are wonderful, so today’s post is going to be about someone just like that.

Mary is the Living Goddess of The Magic Apothecary (www.themagicapothecary.com).  I have been availing myself of her amazing products for several years now, and they always work for me.  Some work super fast, and some work after a little while, but they always work for me!

She is a highly skilled Witch who uses pure essential oils and wonderful herbs to create candles, essential oil blends, perfumes, make-up, lotions and more.  She recently expanded to making what I Lovingly call Healing Honeys, but I digress.

She uses what she has learned about Moon Magick, Witchcraft, Ritual, Herbs, Essential Oils and more to create amazing products for manifesting one’s desires or dreams.  As Mr. Prosperity, I AM especially adoring of her “Isis and Osiris Money Candle.”  Last year, I had purchased the Candle.  At the time, I did not realize that the fee for that candle had increased, but I knew it was worth it because I knew who made it!

Well, that night I began burning the candle.  The very next day I received an Email from a client, a client who had not had a Reading with me for about six months.  She wanted to schedule a Reading with me, and wanted to know if I was available that same week.  In one fell swoop, I received almost double my money.

I also love the fact that, if there is an intention you wish to manifest, and you do not see a product that can help you manifest it on The Magic Apothecary Web site, more than likely she can create the product for you.  One of my regular clients wanted some “Uncrossing” Incense.  Uncrossing is wonderful for dissolving “bad” luck, reversing ill fortune, eliminating hard negative energies (from within you and without) and for clearing all blocks and roads, both literal and figurative.

I did not see any on Mary’s Web site, so I asked her if she could make some.  She said that she could and she did.  Well, let me tell you, Mary’s Uncrossing Blend WORKS!  My client feels lighter of Spirit, and she is definitely more Prosperous.  In addition, she is enjoying her home more, as well as her relationships, too.

I cannot over-recommend you visit http://www.themagicapothecary.com.  And if and when you avail yourself of their amazing products, please let Mary know that you found about them from Robert Alvarez, the Psychic Witch.

Dear blog followers and readers, thank you so much for honoring I AM and what I do.  I wish all of you and yours a wonderful and wondrous weekend.

Sandy Was the Name of the Dark Goddess This Samhain

I have always kept Samhain sacred.  Since the beginning of my Witchcraft practice there has NEVER been a year where there was no Samhain.  Samhain is the day when Witches and Pagans (Halloween) honor, revere and speak with the dead.  It is a time to remember that we are finite on this earth and to honor the Dark Gods and Goddesses of the underworld where we all will be one day.  It is a time of slaughter, silence,  death and sleep.

Hurricane Sandy made sure of that here in New York.

Back from a Goddess Festival!

FOI Goddess Festival Chicago Sept 28 2012

I was blessed and very happy to be able to attend the Fellowship of Isis Goddess Festival in Chicago IL this past weekend.  I am an initiated member of Fellowship of Isis and participate in a Grove here in NYC called Grove Argentum which is a part of the Druid Clan of Dana.  I was asked to do a workshop at the Chicago branches Goddess Festival this past weekend.  I was very glad to do so!

I had not been on a plane for over 20 years and after the initial shock of super security and rushing to sit still in airports, I  was excited to fly away on the wings of Isis to a most fantastic city and to meet some of the nicest and most spiritual people I have encountered in a long time.  Chicago has a very different energy than New York where I live and have lived my whole life.  Chicago is a tough city on the outside but inside soft and sweet…like it’s pizza!  After traveling with my friend and Priestess Carole Linda back and forth on the “L” we landed into the home of leader of this FOI group and were immediately accepted and honored!  I gave a workshop the next day on clearing Chakra energy through singing, color and using Goddess energy.  I think it went well.  There was much energy raised and shiny happy faces afterwards!

I don’t have pics of that yet but above is a energy shot (that is what I call it I took tons of pics for the group) of the lovely ritual that this group gave later that day.  I was honored to be there to witness it.  Decompressing now and getting ready to host Samhain in my home!

Blessings !!!
